8. What is genre and what is a teen drama film?

Genre

When looking at different genres within the film industry, it is generally means a specific style or subject mater. When a film is put into a genre, it gives the audience general hints about what to expect from the film. For example if a film is described as being a western film, than viewers can probably expect to see cowboys and horses in an American setting. A film may also have different elements of a number of different genres. For example a 'Romantic drama'

Teen Dramas
A teen drama is a type of drama that mainly focuses around teenage characters. Common plots in teen drama films may include first love, rebellion, conflict with parents etc. They can often be set in high schools.
Four teen drama title sequences that I have looked at are; 'Beautiful Thing', 'Mean Girls', 'My Brother The Devil' and '10 Thing I Hate About You'.
Both 'Mean Girls' and '10 Things I Hate About You' have the most credits where as the other two sequences have only a few credits.

Title sequences may differ depending on the budget on the film. A film with a high budget(mainstream production) is going to have much more credits in comparison to a low budget film(independent production) because there will be more people involved in the film and therefore more people to credit.
